Robert Frood

Judo Coach / Trustee

Robert is a 1st Dan and a UKCC Level 2 coach, he became involved with Pro Judo 8 years ago and has taught classes, coached our competitive kids, refereed at club comps and still likes to practice at the adult classes.

Here is Robert’s favourite technique, Judo player and moment

  • Technique : Uchi Mata to watch Koshi Guruma to do
  • Judo Player : Ono. Iliadis makes me smile
  • Favourite Judo Moment : Too many great pro judo moments. Training in Sardinia with our boys and the Italian squad was fantastic

Started judo with Walter Littlejohn at the Glasgow Judo Club many years ago. Life and family etc meant that I was away from the sport for many years, although I did make a few attempts to get involved again - all unsuccessful until my son and I got involved with pro judo. In the last 8 years I’ve gained my brown belt, passed level 2 coaching, volunteered as a scorekeeper at the commonwealth games and suffered multiple wee niggles. Judo people are wonderful and I have made some lifelong friends

Professional Life:

I’m a father of three, grandfather of two and still work in the IT business when not at classes or comps.
