Mark is a 1st Dan and a UKCC Level 2 coach and has been practising the art of judo for over 35 years on & off. He was a multiple Scottish champion & British medallist at minor, cadet & junior age. He has won medals in France & was selected to fight in many Home International team events.

Here is Mark’s favourite technique, Judo player and moment

  • Technique : Ashiwazas & Newaza arm roll
  • Judo Player : Yashuhiro Yamashita
  • Favourite Judo Moment : Winning the Scottish Championships for the first time as he and his older brother both won gold on the same day.

Mark started his judo journey at the age of 4 at Blantyre judo club, when his mum & dad (both Scottish bodybuilding champions their-selves) would put Mark and his brother into the judo while his mum instructed women’s weightlifting classes in the same sports centres gym. After not practising judo for a while, Mark has re-found his love for judo since his kids have joined the Pro-Judo family. Mark is a strong believer in fundamental judo and its morale code. He loves the technical aspects of the sport and enjoys passing this knowledge (whether old or new) onto other members.

Professional Life:

Mark is a Senior Plant inspector and Nondestructive testing technician and regularly travels to different refineries, oil rigs and workshops to carry out his specialised work. He is also a time served motor mechanic.
