This is an entry-level event, designed to give young judoka a taste of competitive judo and to let parents see the progress being made by their children. Medals will be awarded to all competitors.

Our team of volunteers will be on hand to make sure everyone has a great time and that children enjoy a taste of competitive judo in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. The event will have something for everyone:

  • It is a great venue in the heart of Glasgow, just a five-minute walk from the main train stations
  • Fun warm-up led by our team of full-time athletes and Commonwealth Games stars
  • Evenly matched contests – players will be placed in pools according to age, weight and ability – ensuring that everyone has the best possible chance to excel
  • Trained referees and formal scoring to give the feel of top-flight judo competition.
  • Café with hot drinks, rolls and snacks to keep parents and athletes going
  • Raffle with great prizes – in support of our parent charity, Sporting Chances Alba
  • Judo Sporting Goods Shop – judogi, clothing and a wide range of bargain items
  • Player medals presented by Commonwealth Games athletes, Rachel Tytler and David Ferguson

HOW TO GET TO THE VENUE & PARKING

TrainWe recommend coming to the venue by public transport, Glasgow Central Station is only a short walk away.
BusThere are several buses that will take you close to Glasgow Central Station, Buchanan Bus Station is a 15 min walk from the venue also.
Car & ParkingSt Enoch’s Centre parking is £3 for the whole day and is only 10 min walk from the venue.

There is limited parking directly outside the venue and on Sunday on the street parking charges are applied, limited to 2 hours, and wardens do operate.

Q Park is close to the venue but be warned it is very expensive.

To gain entry into the building press the buzzer for “Sporting Chances” Please be patient someone will answer the phone to allow access.

Once inside proceed to Level 5 using the elevators on the righthand side.

Competitors Summer Camp 2023

Attention all young judoka! Pro Judo is proud to present a thrilling Summer camp event that you won’t want to miss. Join us for a week of intensive training, featuring a range of exciting activities designed to take your skills to the next level.

The camp will be held at our city centre dojo, providing the perfect location for a weekend of judo fun. We will be raising funds for your own club, so not only will you be improving your skills, but you’ll also be supporting your own community.

We will deliver a lively and engaging program, combining technical input, newaza randori, and tachi waza randori. With our coaches extensive experience and expertise, you’ll be sure to gain valuable insights into the world of competitive judo.

Whether you’re a Minor, Pre-Cadet or Cadet, there’s something for everyone at this event. So why not come along and join in the fun? We can’t wait to see you on the mat!

When : July 25th and 27th 10 am til’ 3 pm with a lunch break

Grading November 2022

An important part of Judo is our grades/belts, a grade marks a child’s progression and is an indication of the level of the Judo player. To help us process your child’s grading correctly and promptly please review the information below.

Who are Judo Scotland?

Judo Scotland is the Sport Scotland recognised national governing body for the Olympic sport of Judo, Pro Judo as a club is an affiliated member of Judo Scotland. We require our members to hold a valid Judo Scotland license to be able to complete grading.

Judo Scotland offers a provisional membership for new members this must be upgraded to paid full membership after checkout on their system to be graded.

Gradings and Registration

Each child will be asked to complete a short exam for their grade during normal class times. Early registration for the grading before the 4th of December will be £20 which will rise to £25 after this period. All payments and registration for the grading will close on the 12th of December.

Presentation of the grading

The presentation of certificates and belts will be on the week commencing the 12th of December at normal class times, parents and guardians will be welcome to attend the dojo for this.

Preparing for the grading

Judo Scotland offers some great pictorial guidance for children and adults preparing for their grading for your age group. Your coach will have covered the syllabus for your grade, the throws, hold and names needed for your grading. New starts will start with 1st Kai, 1st Mon or 6th Kyu depending on age. This is an entry-level event, designed to give young judoka a taste of competitive judo and to let parents see the progress being made by their children. Gold medals will be awarded to all under 8 competitors. Gold silver and bronze medals will be awarded to all over 8s. Players will have at least 3 contests and contests will be 3 minutes in duration with a referee decision in the event of a draw.

Our team of volunteers will be on hand to make sure everyone has a great time and that children enjoy a taste of competitive judo in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. The event will have something for everyone:
