Judo was developed in Japan by Dr Jigoro Kano towards the end of the 19th century and has evolved from being a martial art into one of the world's most popular sports. Since its inclusion in the 1964 Olympic Games Judo has progressed rapidly and is without doubt the worlds most popular combat sport. Judo is however much more than a sport, it is also seen to be effective as an educational system in both physical and moral spheres.

Pro Judo aims to provides opportunities in schools for young people between the ages of 5 and 17 to receive the basic principles of judo, in a fun and safe manner.

All of our coaching are fully qualified British Judo coaches and are all an Disclosure check on a regular basis for their suitability for working with young people in schools.

Following the ethos of Japanese etiquette, children are encouraged to demonstrate a mutual respect for each other at all times both on and off the mat.

Active participation of the child in the sport of judo which translates into English as "The gentle way of self defence" will not only boost confidence but provide a real sense of overall achievement.
