Pro:Judo at the double!

Pro Judo has started off 2010 in the same way they ended 2009, with a clutch of medals at two important tournaments: The Welsh Championships in Cardiff and The Midland Area Championships in Walsall.

A team of eight travelled to Cardiff last month and returned with five medals: one gold, two silvers and two bronze medals. And last weekend, nine travelled to Walsall, winning another three silvers and two bronze medals.

Head Coach Brian Long said: “Both tournaments were very competitive with over 350 competitors at Cardiff and 600 at Walsall, so it was great to have such positive results at both.”

Laura Hewitt, 10, won gold in Cardiff, adding the Welsh crown to the Scottish title she won in September.

And three club members collected medals at both events: Jack Murphy winning double silver, Kate Saunders, double bronze and Kerry Thomson, silver and bronze.
